Preschool Gymnastics Programs

RR Gymnastics offers a comprehensive preschool program for children ages 2 to 6 years old. Our classes teach co-ordination, speed, balance and endurance. Also during these courses the athletes develop a greater self-esteem, better listening skills, better problem-solving skills, and provide fun ways of using excess energy.

  • Parent and Tot (ages 2 to 3 years) : 45 minutes

  • Preschool (ages 4 and 5): 1 hour

  • Advanced Kindergym (“Spitfires”) (ages 4 to 6years): 1 hour (a step before “Sparks” which is pre-competitive artistic)

Recreational Programs

Recreational classes at RR Gymnastics are divided by ability. Typically individuals enter at the beginner level, but due to our progress evaluation they can advance through our levels at the pace most appropriate for them.

RR Gymnastics Club follows the CANGYM Program for Artistic Gymnastics. This program was created by Gymnastics Canada for the skill development of introductory gymnastics. It is widely used in clubs across the country and around the world.

CLASS LEVELS:

The CANGYM program consists of twelve badges. These badges are divided up over the three class levels offered at RR Gymnastics.

Beginner: badges 1 (Burgundy), 2 (Red), 3 (Tan),

Intermediate: 4 (Bronze) 5 (Purple),

Advanced: badges 6 (Blue), 7 (Turquoise), 8 (Silver) 9 (Orange), 10 (Yellow), 11 (Green), 12 (Gold)

BADGES:

Students may achieve more than one badge per session. Athletes work on the skills specific to the badge they are working on, as well as other badges within their class level over the term. Once an athlete has mastered all key badge skills they advance to the next badge level. This means that athletes progress at an individual pace. There is no set or normal speed at which athletes progress through badges or levels. Some children may complete the required skills for Beginner over one term while others may take several terms to complete a specific badge. Badges typically take longer to complete in the higher levels. The final badge in a level is also typically more difficult to achieve (ie: badge 4, bronze).

REPORT CARDS:

Athletes receive a final report card per term. Final report cards are issued the last day of term. These are the CANGYM Report Cards and offer a list of skills achieved and areas that may need improvement. Badges are passed out with final reports.

RECREATIONAL TRAMPOLINE, DOUBLE MINI TRAMPOLINE AND TUMBLING

Recreational classes at RR Gymnastics are divided by ability. Typically individuals enter at the beginner level, but due to our progress evaluation they can advance through our levels at the pace most appropriate for them.

RR Gymnastics Club follows the CANJUMP Program for T & T Gymnastics. This program was created by Gymnastics Canada for the skill development of introductory gymnastics. It is widely used in clubs across the country and around the world.

This is strictly a skill based program used for the development of Tumbling, and Trampoline athletes in recreational gymnastics. The Levels are different than Artistic, and there are no badges for the levels but a report card is used to track progression.

COACHING:

RR Gymnastic coaches follow the Gymnastics Canada approved National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The NCCP is considered to be one of the best coaching programs in the world.
