COVID-19 Updates

As you know, many facilities have new regulations because of COVID-19. Our gym is no different! Some rules parents may need to be aware of are:

  • Please do not enter this facility if either you have been ill with symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 illness or suspect that you have been exposed to someone with suspected or lab-confirmed COVID-19 in the prior 14 days.
  • Limit carpooling among club participants; only members of the same family should be in a vehicle to travel to the gym.
  • Please respect the physical distancing guidelines while in the facility: 2 metre rule (except within the class bubble).
  • Athletes are not to leave unauthorized personal equipment in the gym.
  • Athletes are to have their own water bottle. They are not to share personal equipment.
  • Everyone must sanitize hands when entering facility.
  • Staff members will monitor the gymnasts inside the facility and ensure hands are regularly cleaned.
  • Please remind your athletes of the importance of hand washing and not touching their face.
  • Masks are required upon entry of our facility. They must be worn while in the lobby but may be removed once you have entered the gym training area. Masks left at the gym will be discarded. Children under the age of 2 and individuals with a medical condition preventing them from wearings masks are exempt.
  • Washrooms are for emergencies only. Please try to refrain from using them. Gymnasts are expected to be changed into gym attire before they come to the gym and to change out of their gym attire once they leave the gym.
  • There is no viewing for any of our classes. Therefore, no parents are allowed in the gym other than participants of the Parent & Tot program. Only one parent or guardian is permitted to attend with each Parent and Tot participant to ensure they follow physical distancing protocols. Parents are not required to wear a mask while in the gym area as long as they can maintain social distancing.
  • A 5 minute drop off window is in place. Parents are to drop athletes off at the front door. The door will be opened 5 minutes prior to class start time. The entrance door will then be locked at the start time of class to ensure proper entry protocols and sanitizing is followed. At the end of class, coaches will bring athletes out the exit door at the front of the gym and line up along the building.
  • Waivers and declarations must be accepted online before athletes are permitted to enter our facility. All members and staff must abide by the declaration of compliance at all times.

What is a class bubble? A class bubble consists of the athletes in the particular class and their coaches. Class bubbles are not to mix, even if your family member is in a different class!

Do we need masks? You will only need a mask when entering and exiting the building. Only coaches and coaching staff may be required to wear masks during classes.

Are class sizes smaller this year? No, we are able to run full capacity classes (6-8 athletes per class) since the class bubble will be under 10 participants.

Will classes be less hands-on? Classes will be just as hands-on as before! Coaches are required to wear masks and sanitize their hands frequently.

How is warm-up and cool-down socially distanced? Warm-up and cool-down will be performed in separate groups across the gym. You will only be in contact with your class bubble throughout the session.

What about the equipment? Equipment is disinfected with a Gymnastics Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Government approved disinfectant between every rotation.
